The NFL
https://www.carolinapanthersfanshop.com/Daryl-Williams-Jersey , which has rarely met a P.R. crisis it hasn’t bungled, has made a wise and prudent move in settling the Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid collusion grievances. The buying of peace carries with it not only the avoidance of a potentially massive judgment and the embarrassment and stress of a full-blown hearing during which owners and executives would have been twisted in various shapes and sizes of sailing knots but also the disclosure of a likely treasure trove of emails, text messages, and deposition transcripts generated in more than a year of pre-hearing discovery.Win or lose, that information could have been devastating to the NFL, both as it relates to potential proof that the league office tried to discourage teams from signing Kaepernick and/or Reid and as it relates to evidence of people overstepping their roles and/or failing to competently perform the duties of their jobs and/or saying dumb things that would have fueled umpteen news cycles.Silence becomes a big part of what the league paid for, via a confidential settlement that may never be leaked but that will invite speculation that the NFL — which rarely settles anything — paid huge money to make Kaepernick and Reid go away. The fact that Reid’s case also was settled confirms that the NFL did this to keep testimony and documents secret, and that the NFL offered enough to persuade Reid, who in some ways seemed to be even more determined to seek justice than Kaepernick, to stand down. But Kaepernick surely got much more than Reid
https://www.carolinapanthersfanshop.com/Donte-Jackson-Jersey , because Kaepernick had a much stronger case than Reid. And even though the NFLPA has expressed hope that Kaepernick will return to the NFL, there’s a chance that Kaepernick’s settlement (the terms of which the NFLPA isn’t aware) includes a provision that he won’t seek, and won’t be offered, NFL employment. For the league, that would make a wise decision even wiser, because the same alleged collusion that resulted in the settlement could spark a fresh collusion case that would apply from the day after the ink dries on the deal. But it also should make a costly settlement even more costly. Plays to Love, Plays to Hate looks at the most significant plays in swinging momentum and impacting the eventual outcome of the game. There is always plenty to hate about NFL officiating, so we will only focus on the plays on the field, not the refs.Let’s review how the Carolina Panthers pulled off their 30-20 home victory against the Tennessee Titans to go to 5-3 on the season. Three plays to love2nd Quarter 9:58 – Panthers 3, Titans 0. Titans ball 2nd-and-9 at TEN 18The Situation: After a sluggish start to the game
Greg Olsen Jersey , the Panthers led 3-0 in the second quarter. The Titans had the ball deep in their own territory to start their drive. The Play: Ryan Tannehill’s pass was thrown too high and behind his target and the Tennessee wide receiver tipped the ball up in the air. Donte Jackson intercepted the pass and returned it to the Tennessee 31. Donte also drew a facemask penalty on the return which gave Carolina’s offense possession at the Tennessee 15. The excellent field position and a Riverboat Ron fourth down gamble resulted in a touchdown and a 10-0 Panthers lead.3rd Quarter 9:10 – Panthers 17, Titans 7. Panthers ball 4th-and-4 at CAR 36The Situation: After the Panthers took a 17-0 lead into the half, the Titans got the ball to start the third quarter. Tennessee gashed Carolina’s defense with the run and scored a touchdown on an impressive drive to narrow the score to 17-7. On the subsequent possession the Panthers offense was now facing a three-and-out and momentum was tilting Tennessee’s way.The Play: Riverboat Ron strikes again! This time the Panthers dialed up a high-risk, medium-reward fake punt. Colin Jones took a direct snap and did an incredible job pushing the pile forward just enough for a first down. If the play had failed the Titans would’ve taken possession around the Carolina 40. Instead, the Panthers continued their drive which ended with a Christian McCaffrey touchdown and a momentum-shifting 24-7 lead. 4th Quarter 11:15 – Panthers 24, Titans 14. Panthers ball 3rd-and-12 at CAR 28The Situation: The Titans had pulled to within 10 points early in the fourth quarter. The Panthers were facing a big 3rd-and-12 from their own 28. The Play: Kyle Allen hit DJ Moore for a 14-yard gain and a first down. Instead of punting the Panthers now had 1st-and-10 at the Carolina 42. On the very next play Christian McCaffrey broke off a 58-yard touchdown run behind excellent blocking from Trai Turner, Greg Van Roten, and Chris Manhertz. While we’ll remember CMC’s electric run, let’s not forget the conversion on 3rd-and-12 that made it possible. Three plays to hate4th Quarter 15:00 – Panthers 24, Titans 7. Titans ball 3rd-and-7 at TEN 42The Situation: The Panthers took a commanding 24-7 lead into the fourth quarter. The Titans were facing 3rd-and-7 from their own 42. A stop by the Panthers defense would put Carolina firmly in control to close out a win. The Play: James Bradberry got beat in man coverage on a deep pass down the right sideline. Bradberry never got his head around to locate the ball and break up the pass. The completion gained 35 yards to the Carolina 23. Two plays later the Titans scored a touchdown to pull to 24-14. 4th Quarter 10:33 – Panthers 30
Fozzy Whittaker Color Rush Jersey , Titans 14. Panthers attempting extra pointThe Situation: Christian McCaffrey’s 58-yard touchdown put Carolina firmly in control in the fourth quarter. Converting the extra point would give the Panthers a 31-14 lead. The Play: Tennessee overloaded the right side of the Panthers blocking protection and seemingly sent more rushers than Carolina could account for. The extra point was easily blocked. This was a huge lost point, too. Instead of going up three scores with a 17-point lead, the game technically remained a two-score affair at 16 points. 4th Quarter 6:15 – Panthers 30, Titans 14. Panthers ball 3rd-and-5 at TEN 31The Situation: Carolina was up by 16 and in field goal range at the Tennessee 31. A conversion on 3rd-and-5 would take additional time off the clock and extend the drive. The Play: Kyle Allen felt pressure and rolled to his right. He threw an off-balance, somewhat wobbly pass to Jarius Wright beyond the first down marker. Wright had to go to his knees to try to secure the catch and couldn’t come up with the ball. It wasn’t an easy catch for Jarius, but it’s one he’s made dozens of times in the past on crucial third downs. The drop forced the Panthers into a 49-yard field goal attempt which Joey Slye missed. Carolina could’ve essentially put the game away here with a first down followed by a field goal (or a touchdown) but they walked away empty. Closing it out and summing it upThis was a great win with solid play on both sides of the ball. I would’ve liked to have seen more of a killer instinct to put the game away earlier in the fourth quarter, but a win’s a win. Kyle Allen (17-of-32, 232 yards, two touchdowns, one interception) shook off a slow start to lead a capable offense. His short and intermediate passes were on point after the first quarter
Rashaan Gaulden Jersey , though his deep balls continue to be underthrown by a yard or two. He’s improving with his ball security and even avoided fumbling on a brutal blindside sack where most quarterbacks would’ve coughed it up. As I’ve said many times before, Kyle Allen is exceeding expectations for a 23-year-old backup, and that’s a great thing! Christian McCaffrey (166 combined yards, three touchdowns) was deservedly serenaded with “M-V-P!” chants, while rookie left tackle Dennis Daley is the unsung MVP of this Panthers offense. Defensively, Shaq Thompson and Eric Reid were everywhere with each registering 11 tackles and a sack. Carolina’s run defense looked a little vulnerable again by surrendering 83 yards on 17 carries (4.9 YPC) to Tennessee running backs and the Panthers were probably fortunate the Titans abandoned the run in the first half. Tennessee missing all three field goal attempts helped as well. But with three forced turnovers and four more sacks, Carolina’s defense is more than doing its part in the winning equation. At 5-3 the playoffs are still very much a possibility but there is little room for error in a competitive NFC. A victory this upcoming week against the Green Bay Packers would be a statement win for a Panthers team that is good enough to be good, but hasn’t yet shown the ability to be great.
