The move opens the door for them to start promising rookie safety Jesse Bates, whom they drafted in the second round out of Wake Forest earlier this year.Iloka had been a starting safety for the Bengals since 2013, under Mike Zimmer and current Raiders DC Paul Guenther. Iloka would make sense for the Raiders in the sense that he knows Paul Guenther’s system and would be a plug-and-play guy if the injury to Marcus Gilchrist is more severe than we know, but I doubt there are any NFL teams who will want Iloka with his cap number what it is, and will likely wait for him to clear waivers and negotiate a new contract at a far more reasonable number.So what do you think, Raider Nation? We’re going to see where they are and they’ll see where we are.”What Gruden is talking about with regard to the young guys is a host of unknowns who will be tasked with replacing the departed Quinn, Barwin, and Ogletree. So not every new player on that Rams defense is considered an upgrade. Some are a bit of a mystery.Even middle linebacker Mark Barron, who started 14 games last season looks unlikely to play Monday as he is missing practice while dealing with an Achilles injury. That leaves the Rams — much like the Raiders — with a completely new linebacking corps.Formerly undrafted linebacker Cory Littleton is expected to start after having started just five games in his first two seasons.
